The "Item Description" information is part of the SAF-T (PT) file and is subject to validation when the information is submitted on the portal of the Portuguese Tax and Customs Authority (AT). Unlike in previous versions of the SAF-T (PT) file, the AT has decided to change the validation of the minimum number of characters required in the "Item Description" field from 1 to 2 in the new version 1.04 of the SAF-T (PT). The "Item Description" must provide a minimum level of detail that makes it possible to determine the type of goods traded and, where applicable, the type of service provided.
